SEE WORLD?

I'm back from swimming with sharks and I survived. What's even better is only one of the team was eaten instead of the usual two. I was at Sea World Brisbane today, and it's an absolutely beautiful park, easily the nicest of all the Sea Worlds I've been to. There is a real feel that this Sea World is all about saving sea life and that the park is something that merely exists to bring in money so they can do their real job. If you come to Australia I would strongly urge you to visit the park. I think you'll find it an amazing experience.

The expedition was arranged by writer, protographer, etc. Sonny Whitelaw. She and her friend, fellow writer Jennifer Fallon and I made the trek to Australia's gold coast. While Sonny stayed outside with her camera, Jennifer and I along with two others made our way into their shark lagoon. Here are some of the pictures Sonny took.
This is an above water shot of just part of the lagoon. It's keeps going and going and going.
Here's pretty much the same shot, only from under water. There are untold number of fish including many, many sharks, stingrays, hammerheads and more. It was way cool.
Here's me getting ready for the swim. They supplied us with wetsuits and fins. I happened to have a perscription goggles so I brought mine from home.

I'm off and swimming!
Finally, I'm here with some big honking ugly fish. You can see a few sharks in the background. They appeared to be camera shy and stayed away from us. One of the coolest moments were when two huge stingrays swam thisclose under my chest. I just floated until they moved on.

The swim lasted for about 20 minutes, but will be something I'll long remember. Thanks to Sonny for setting it all up and for Sea World for their incredible hospitality.

That is amazing! I'd be way too chicken to swim anywhere near sharks and stingrays and fish of that nature, however shy they may be, but that is a seriously beautiful lagoon. Very nice pictures. Australia sounds awesome from everything I've heard.
